Château Smith Haut-Lafitte is an imposing medieval tower house set among the vines. Daniel and Florence Cathiard are a very well-known couple in Bordeaux, having invested enormous sums in renovating their Châteaux and chais (they also own Château Cantelys) and the luxury Spa hotel La Source de Caudalie on the estate. The wines have benefited from this investment and are now to be reckoned with.

A big, big wine with lashings of new oak and obvious wine-making prowess. Loads of fruit and spice, good acidity and the promise of good things to come. But it will take some time! 8-20 years.
